PSHE at Mapperley CE Primary School 

At Mapperley CE Primary, we want our curriculum to inspire our learners and foster a real love of learning. Through our PSHE curriculum we want to inspire pupils' curiosity of the world around them and help to foster pupil wellbeing and develop character and personal attributes, that we believe are fundamental to pupils being happy, successful and productive. We believe PSHE education helps pupils to develop skills and aptitudes such as teamwork, communication and resilience.

 
With these aims in mind, we have selected an innovative global curriculum called ' Learning Means the World'. PSHE is taught through thematic units with clear skills and knowledge progression running throughout (see the Skills Ladders in files). These cross curricular units cover over 90% of the 2014 National curriculum and further topics which are not touched upon in these units are taught in 'Top Up' weeks (see Rolling Theme Cycle in files).

We are confident that our chosen curriculum provides a high quality PSHE education that helps pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society. It actively promotes the moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils and prepares our children to navigate, participate and stay safe in the wider world.
